Coon Rapids, Minnesota, is a vibrant community that thrives on togetherness and shared experiences. Throughout the year, our city hosts a variety of events that bring residents together, fostering a strong sense of community spirit.
Annual Celebrations
One of the highlights is the 4th of July Community Celebration at Boulevard Plaza. This event features live music, a community parade, carnival games, and a spectacular fireworks display, recognized as one of the top in Minnesota. It’s a time when neighbors come together to celebrate our nation’s independence and enjoy each other’s company.
Seasonal Festivities
As the seasons change, so do our community events. The Tree Lighting Festival in December is a cherished tradition, offering cocoa and cookies, photos with Santa, live music, and a countdown to the lighting of the community tree, followed by fireworks. It’s a magical time that brings warmth to the winter season.
Supporting Local Initiatives
Beyond these celebrations, organizations like the Spirit of Matthew 25 provide essential services to residents. They offer rescued food to those in need, with distributions on Tuesdays, Fridays, and the second Sunday of each month. Their commitment ensures that everyone in our community has access to nutritious food, regardless of circumstances.
Getting Involved
Participating in these events and supporting local initiatives is a wonderful way to connect with neighbors and contribute to the community’s vibrancy. Whether it’s attending a festival, volunteering, or simply spreading the word, every action helps strengthen the bonds that make Coon Rapids a special place to live.
